Business Insurance for Alabama & Georgia Small Business Owners
You built your business carefully. The coverage protecting it should be just as deliberate. We're an independent agency serving small businesses across Alabama and Georgia — comparing carriers, explaining options, and making sure your policy holds up when you actually need it.
Commercial Lines Coverage
Coverage for the Business You've Built
Running a business in Alabama or Georgia means carrying real risk every day — a customer gets hurt on your property, a work vehicle is in an accident, a fire damages your equipment, an employee is injured on the job. Each of those scenarios has a coverage type designed specifically for it. And each one has carriers that price it differently.
As an independent agency, we don't push one carrier's commercial package. We represent multiple top-rated companies and compare options before we make a recommendation. That matters more in commercial insurance than almost anywhere else — because one carrier may decline a risk another writes every day, and pricing differences for the same coverage can be significant.
Whether you're a contractor, a retailer, a restaurant owner, a landlord, or a professional services provider, we write commercial lines for businesses of all types across both states.
What We Cover
Four Commercial Lines. One Independent Agency.
General Liability Insurance
If a customer is injured at your business, or you cause damage to someone's property while doing your job, general liability is what stands between you and paying out of pocket. It's the most commonly required commercial coverage — and often the first one a landlord, general contractor, or client will ask to see on a certificate of insurance. We write GL for businesses of all types across Alabama and Georgia and can typically fulfill certificate requests within one business day.
Commercial Property Insurance
Whether you own your building or lease your space, your business has property worth protecting — equipment, inventory, furnishings, and in many cases, the income you'd lose if a covered event forced you to close. Commercial property insurance covers the physical assets. Business interruption coverage, often added as part of the same package, covers the revenue. We make sure you understand which one you have and whether you need both.
Commercial Auto Insurance
Using a personal vehicle for work — or sending employees on business errands — without commercial auto coverage is one of the most common uninsured exposures small business owners carry. Personal auto policies typically exclude business use, which means a work-related accident can be denied at the claim stage. We write commercial auto for owned business vehicles and hired and non-owned auto liability for businesses whose employees use their own vehicles for work.
Workers Compensation Insurance
Alabama requires workers comp for employers with five or more employees — four or more in construction. Georgia's threshold is three. Workers comp covers medical expenses and lost wages for employees injured on the job and protects the business from direct liability for those claims. We write workers comp for small businesses across both states and can help you understand how your claims history affects your rate — and what you can do about it.

The Independent Advantage
Commercial Insurance Is Where Carrier Access Matters Most
In personal insurance, most major carriers will write most risks. In commercial insurance, that's not always true. A carrier that loves writing contractors in Alabama may decline the same risk in Georgia. A company that prices restaurants competitively may charge significantly more for retail. One carrier may require a loss run history another doesn't ask for.
When you work with a captive agent — one tied to a single carrier — you're working with whatever that carrier will and won't accept. When you work with us, we go to market across multiple commercial carriers and find the one that fits your business, your industry, and your risk profile. That's not a small difference. It can mean the difference between getting coverage and not — and in pricing, it can be several hundred dollars a year.
If a better option is available when your policy comes up, we'll find it.

Know Your Requirements
Alabama and Georgia Have Different Rules. We Know Both.
Business insurance requirements vary by state, industry, and employee count. A few things worth knowing if you operate in Alabama or Georgia:
Alabama workers comp threshold
Required for employers with 5 or more employees (4 or more in the construction industry).
Georgia workers comp threshold
Required for employers with 3 or more employees.
General liability
Not required by state law in either Alabama or Georgia, but commonly required by landlords, general contractors, and clients as a condition of doing business. If you've been asked to provide a certificate of insurance, you need a GL policy.
Commercial auto
Required for vehicles titled in a business name or primarily used for commercial operations in both states. Personal auto coverage does not extend to commercial use in most policy scenarios.

Common Questions
What Business Owners Usually Ask Us
What business insurance do I actually need in Alabama?
At minimum, most Alabama small businesses need general liability insurance — it protects against third-party bodily injury and property damage claims and is required by most landlords and clients. If you have employees, you likely need workers comp. If you use vehicles for business, you need commercial auto. The right combination depends on your industry, your number of employees, and what contracts you're required to fulfill.
How much does small business insurance cost in Alabama and Georgia?
It varies significantly by industry, coverage type, and revenue. General liability for a low-risk small business can start around $400–$600 a year. Workers comp is priced per $100 of payroll and varies by industry classification. Commercial property and auto depend on the value of what's being insured and how it's used. The most accurate answer is a quote — and we can typically get you one in a single conversation.
I use my personal truck for my business. Do I need a separate commercial auto policy?
Almost certainly yes. Personal auto policies exclude coverage for vehicles used in commercial operations in most policy language. A work-related accident in a personally insured vehicle may be denied by your personal carrier. We can review your current policy and tell you exactly where you stand — and write commercial auto coverage if you need it.
Can you help me if I've had a claim or if another carrier declined to write my business?
Yes. We represent multiple commercial carriers with different risk appetites. A declination from one carrier doesn't mean coverage isn't available — it often means you need an agent with access to the right market. Tell us what happened and we'll look at your options honestly.
Can I bundle my business and personal insurance with you?
Yes. Many of our clients carry both personal and commercial lines with us. Bundling doesn't always produce a direct discount on commercial coverage the way home and auto bundling does, but consolidating with one agency simplifies your policy management, renewal schedule, and point of contact significantly.
Let's Make Sure Your Business Is Covered the Right Way.
One conversation is usually all it takes to figure out what you need and what you don't. No pressure, no obligation — just an honest look at your coverage.
